"Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart."
This quote by William Wadsworth aptly sums up the motive behind Jan's writing ... it's the "breathing of [her] heart." Whether pen and paper, her trusty laptop, or music score, the "breathings" of Jan's heart never stop. Whether a Bible study, devotional, short story, poem, website copy, testimonies, or new songs from the depth of her heart in worship, creativity flows from her heart with passion, purpose, and proof that the Lord is the central focus of her entire life.
Jan's heart breathes encouragement for today along with hope for tomorrow based on her love for the Word of God.

This page is dedicated to share the God-given gift of writing that grows through the years. While this page is far from complete, you will learn a little more about Jan's heart for the Lord, His Body, and His love for His creation. If you would like to read more, you can read TODAY'S DEVOTION and other articles on her BLOG.
Jan is currently working on publishing a Bible Study (sample is coming soon), co-authoring an anthology about world evangelism, and compiling the best 365 daily devotions for publication in print and an e-book. Hopefully, more information will be forthcoming as plans begin to fall into place.
If you have any questions, comments, or would like to know more about the "breathings" of Jan's heart, please feel free to contact her.

David: A Short Excerpt
Anoint me as king? Who would have believed it? Admittedly, even I struggled with the concept of royalty. Who am I that Yahweh should choose me? A mere shepherd, the youngest son of Jesse. I wish I could say my life changed immediately that day. But instead, after the celebration I returned to the pasture to tend my flock.
Mary, the Mother of Jesus: A Short Excerpt
Those who knew me saw him merely as our son—the son of Joseph the carpenter. I knew he was only on loan to us for a season to nurture and raise to adulthood. After all, His very existence was a miracle of unprecedented enormity, though I never talked about it much—it was too much for most people to comprehend. Those who watched him grow up saw a boy following in his father’s footsteps learning the carpenter trade in the shop. But to me, as he stood amidst the wood with nails and hammer in hand, I saw my son learning how to build a Kingdom.
The Samaritan Woman: A Short Excerpt
Yeshuah! Let me tell you about this man! Well, I really should never have had an encounter with him like I did. He’s a Jew and I’m a Samaritan and Jews just don’t talk to Samaritans. To the Jew, we’re “unclean” and to be avoided. At first I wondered if He just didn’t know or if He was some kind of rebel—there were plenty of them around, you know.
Jairus' Daughter: A Short Excerpt
You’re not going to believe what happened to me! You’ll probably think this is crazy or maybe I was dreaming or something, but it’s true … this really DID happen! I’ll never forget it. You see, I died when I was twelve years old. My parents were right there—they saw it all.
Boy with Loves and Fishes: A Short Excerpt
I’ve got a story, too! It’s another one of those stories you probably wouldn’t believe unless you’d seen it with your own eyes! But I tell you, lots of people saw it – LOTS of people, like thousands! I was only ten when my mom packed me some bread and fish and sent me out into the fields to look after the sheep—I had just enough food for lunch and a snack. That was mom’s way of making sure I came back home. I had a way of wandering off and forgetting the time!
Mary Magdalene: A Short Excerpt
The women … told to be silent. The leaders in the synagogues had no need for women—we were nothing, of no importance to them except to clean their houses and have their babies, and of course, to give them comfort when they thought no one was watching. I decided early on to take my life into my own hands – I would NOT be one of those weeping women bound to their husbands as second-class citizens! I had no need for that in my life! If you haven’t already figured it out, I’m known as Mary Magdalene. But, who I was then is not who I am now. I look back and wonder how I survived through such demonic possession. I was the woman every mother warned their sons about … the one every woman feared their husband would seek out during their times of purification. I was filled with vile and hatred toward men, particularly men of authority in the temple, yet I had learned to use men for my personal gain—my mother taught me well.
Peter: A Short Excerpt
Most of you already know my story … I was the one who really messed up. I let fear take hold of my heart. I’m not the least bit proud of what I did, and as I look back, I can hardly fathom what drove me to such a horrible denial of my Lord. But, I’m assured that my own failure to resist the darkest assaults against a man’s soul have influenced men and women throughout the ages to stand firm and not allow fear to alienate them from the Truth. Jesus is the Truth.
John: A Short Excerpt
Some have called me “the disciple whom Jesus loved.” I would prefer to call myself “the disciple who loved Jesus.” And, yet others call me John the Revelator. Whatever you choose to call me, always remember that my life’s passion was truly Jesus Christ. I have seen His glory like that which could not be described. In the spirit or with my physical eyes, I cannot say. I simply know the revelation of Jesus Christ I beheld while exiled on the Isle of Patmos.
