Alfredo Sauce
Since our adult grandson came to live with us, we've learned to like new foods. Of course, I'm always willing to try making something new, but this has been an unexpected blessing in many ways. Alfredo, while we've had it in the past, was never a big "wow" for us. That is, until recently, thanks to our grandson! So, because we're kind of homebound, I thought I'd try my hand at making homemade alfredo sauce. I found this 5-star recipe, happened to have all the ingredients, and whipped it up. Except for a poor choice of quality ingredients (see "note" below), it was amazing!
This is the most creamy and delicious homemade alfredo sauce that you will ever make! It's a tried and true recipe that will take all of your favorite pasta dishes to the next level.
Prep Time:10minutes minutes
Cook Time:5minutes minutes
Total Time:15minutes minutes
Servings:10 servings
Ingredients
- ½ cup butter
- 1 pint heavy whipping cream or 2 cups
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- ½ teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese (freshly grated is best)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan add butter, heavy whipping cream, and cream cheese. Cook over medium heat and whisk until melted.
- Add the minced garlic, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Continue to whisk until smooth. Add the grated parmesan cheese.***
- Bring to a simmer and continue to cook for about 3-5 minutes or until it starts to thicken. Toss it with your favorite pasta!
Note: I made the mistake of using an off-brand (i.e., cheap) Parmesan Cheese and it was almost bitter. Using freshly grated Parmesan Cheese would have made all the difference in the world. I'm sharing it because the potential for this Alfredo Sauce is huge as long as you don't skimp on the ingredients!
