Barbeque Sauce

A tried and true recipe for Barbeque Sauce.
Barbeque Sauce

by Nadine Lykins

My sister-in-law is a great cook! When I tasted her barbeque ribs, I had to have her recipe, especially since I was a beginner in the kitchen! My husband will tell you about my lack of experience, especially when preparing fresh green beans! We still laugh about it 50+ years later – I promise I know better now!

So, here is a tried and true recipe for Barbeque Sauce! Feel free to add a little more hot pepper sauce if you like a little more heat on your ribs, beef, chicken, or pork! (We love spicy food, so I wasn't stingy with the hot pepper sauce!)

  • 1/2 c Salad Oil
  • 1/3 c Vinegar
  • 1/3 c Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 tsp Dry Mustard
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • Dash Pepper
  • 1/8 tsp Hot Pepper Sauce (or to taste)
  • 1/2 c Brown Sugar
  • 1 c Catsup
  • 2 or 3 Bay leaves

Blend Salad Oil with Vinegar in saucepan. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat.

For Spareribs - Brush with sauce and cook back side about 30 minutes on the lowest rack of broiler.

Also great on Pork Chops, Beef, and Chicken.
