Never Gonna Happen

“The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained.” (George Washington, First Inaugural Address, April 30, 1789)

We are living in a season of change based on the choice of the people in the last two national elections. “Change” has become the mantra of people groups who demand the right to separate themselves from the principles of righteousness established before the foundation of the earth. Change has become a putrid word that signifies self-deification, self-glorification, self-satisfaction, self-absorption, self-pride, self-importance, etc. In other words, change has become a word synonymous with self — not for the betterment of the people, not for the benefit of society as a whole, but for the furtherance of the cause of self. Self-indulgence. Self-promotion. Self-rights. The right to call sin righteous. The right to cast a cloud of doubt on the pure and holy Word of God. The right to twist and torture the clear and concise instruction for life given to mankind by their Creator because of His boundless love toward His creation. Change has once again played its hand in an attempt to trump "the eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained.”

But, herein lies a problem. While change is being proclaimed throughout our land, there is still a Voice to be reckoned with — a Voice no law of man can stifle or silence. The law of the creature is unable to usurp the law of the Creator. Those pesky rules of order and right set into motion by the Voice of the Creator cannot be changed nor can they be altered, bent, twisted, or maligned to mean anything but what the Creator Himself intended when He spoke those eternal rules into motion.

No Supreme Court Judicial can alter or redefine the law of God. It’s impossible.

"Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures. Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you.” (Ps 119:89-91)

God’s Word serves Him … He speaks and His words go into motion to create, form, establish and fashion His will. His Word is unalterable. His Word reveals His will. His Word reveals His love for His creation by setting boundaries and establishing order to the greatest benefit of the object of His love — His creation. When the creature attempts to alter or redefine the Creator’s Word, confusion and chaos ensue, disrupting divine perfect order and rule. Unless the creature ceases to thwart the Creator’s perfect law, chaos and confusion will reach into every fiber of creation in greater measure than ever before. We witnessed the first act of rebellion and disobedience in the Garden. Sin spread like wildfire. It’s still spreading today, gaining momentum, as people demand their rights to defy the Most High God, paying heed to the voice of the destroyer more than the voice of the Creator.

The law of love is completely compatible with the law of God. God is love. He established His law because of His love. When He forbids certain behavior, He does so because He knows the danger waiting for those who participate in that behavior. He knows because He created every fiber of every being, fashioning us with physical and emotional strengths and weaknesses which are completely compatible with His laws. If He were to change His mind or redefine His own word concerning those things which are detestable or an abomination to Him, He would have to recreate His creation to accommodate that change because of His immeasurable love toward that which He has formed with His own hands to display His glory throughout creation.

To choose to hold to the Word of God, to love what He loves, to reject what He finds detestable, is not synonymous with hate toward those who do not agree or who practice those detestable things. That, my friends, is another twisted form of deception from the enemy, changing the love of the Creator toward His creation into hate and rejection. It redefines a pure and perfect love and renders it a form of hatred and rejection. Those who believe the lies of the enemy, embracing that which is detestable to God, have fallen into a vortex of chaos and confusion created by rebellion against the perfect rule and order established by the Creator.

"God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” (Numbers 23:19)

Mankind has a tendency to think of God in human terms, ascribing to Him human qualities and characteristics with which man is familiar. Humans lie. Humans change their minds. Humans grow in understanding and knowledge. This does not describe God. God is not subject to the frailties of our limited understanding and knowledge. God is Supreme over all, knows all things — He is omniscient. His truths are known everywhere but they are seldom rightly believed in or acknowledged by mankind.

God is love and His love is very different from human love. God's love is unconditional, and it's not based on feelings or emotions. He doesn't love us because we're lovable or because we make Him feel good; He loves us because He is love. He created us to have a loving relationship with Him, and He gave us His own Son as a perfect sacrifice, totally unworthy of death yet willing to bear the weight of sin of all of mankind to make a way for us to stand before Him forgiven and pure.

God has not changed. His Word cannot change. His love for mankind will never change. The only change before us today is mankind’s ever-increasing rebellion against the only One who can bring true change (transformation) through heartfelt repentance and a decision of man’s will to obey God’s highest law of love found in His Word — the Bible.

As believers, we have a choice before us today. Will we embrace change by boldly standing firm on the Word of Truth as the highest law of love and life? Or, will we allow change to draw us into that vortex of chaos and confusion created by rebellion against the perfect rule and order established before the foundations of the earth by the Creator?

We cannot have it both ways.

"All the nations may walk in the name of their gods, but we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.” (Micah 4:5)
