Don’t you dare tell me it’s rare! It’s NOT!
Don’t tell me the numbers are insignificant! They’re NOT!
Don’t even dare try to justify it! You can’t!
I won’t apologize for being angry. Neither should YOU!
The fact is, there is no reason or excuse for LATE TERM ABORTION!
Innocent children are being slaughtered in the late stages of pregnancy at the rate of 13,000 per year in the United States alone. That, my friend, is NOT an insignificant number.
The reason for late term abortions range from suspected fetal anomaly, undesirable gender of the preborn child (read related blog here), concern for the mental health of the mother, to “I want to go to the prom!” Sadly, there are doctors(?) who will terminate the life of a fully viable child to accommodate the mother’s most often skewed or misguided reasoning.
A medical report indicating that a preborn child has no chances of viability is still no reason to terminate the pregnancy. While the medical report may prove to be right in some instances, there are countless reports of families receiving similar reports only to give birth to a healthy child. A doctor may recommend termination of the pregnancy as the most humane answer to a suspected medical anomaly, but he cannot guarantee that. How can any of us understand the trauma to the preborn child during the process of stopping a beating heart or preventing the natural birth of a living, moving, growing child?
Set aside the main stream media’s rhetoric for a moment. Consider the facts about late term abortions which, by the way, are indeed alarming. It’s time we took a good hard look at them.
DID YOU KNOW?
There are 196 countries on the face of the earth. Of that, only SEVEN allow for elective abortions past 20 weeks’ gestation. Only FOUR permit abortions until the moment of birth. The UNITED STATES is one of the four countries that protects the mother’s right to
abort kill her preborn child up until the moment of birth without legal consequence.
Some states have restrictions in place. However, Washington DC, Alaska, Colorado, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon and Vermont have no restrictions in place–these state governments fail to protect preborn children from being killed prior to natural birth.
In 2012, the CDC reported that 1.3 percent of abortions were committed at 21 weeks’ gestation and later. With nearly one million abortions annually in the U.S., roughly 13,000 children every year are killed in very late-term procedures.
While birth is an amazing and involving process, the child doesn’t suddenly become human by exiting the birth canal. The child in the womb is already developed in so many ways, and he or she has been developing since life began at the moment of conception
But in the United States, birth is what legally makes the child a human being with rights.¹
The most progressive, civilized nation on the face of the earth, and the inhuman act of killing one’s own viable child is supported by law. How can this be? What kind of country have we become? Have we, as a society, become so heartless, insensitive and self-serving that killing a child in its most innocent state is not only acceptable but protected by law?
Killing a preborn child is tragic. A mother killing her OWN preborn child is abominable. A mother killing her own preborn child AFTER VIABILITY is barbaric. There is no justification. No excuse.
STOP THE HATE
Those who are aware of the facts and maintain that life begins at conception have been accused of hate. Popular opinion is that if we cannot accept a woman’s choice to kill her unborn child, that we have no compassion for the struggling mother or family. The fact is, however, that many of us have HUGE compassion for the woman who feels she has no alternative or who has been lied to by the media or abortion facilities. We totally understand that decisions made under great duress are often regrettable. However, they are also avoidable. There are answers for even the most desperate mothers. There is help although there should be more help readily available to all families struggling with life’s issues.
In most instances, however, the blame goes beyond the mother and/or father. It ultimately rests within the legal system which has made killing our most prized possessions–our children–protected under the law.
Abraham Lincoln said, “No man can give me the right to do what is wrong.” In other words, just because something is protected under the law does not make it right. Wrong is still wrong. Taking a child’s life (before or after birth) is still murder.
This MUST stop! Something MUST be done!
It’s time to DEMAND our legislators and law makers change existing laws to protect those among us who are most vulnerable–our preborn children.
DARE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Don’t remain silent. If these numbers upset you (and, hopefully they do), get involved in the solution. This country needs to protect the life of our most innocent children. We, as citizens, need to make sure women who are struggling with life issues have help readily available to them which hopefully will lead them to consider their responsibility to their preborn child.
Talk about it. Write letters to the editor. Blog about it. Tweet about it. Expose this barbarity. Call and write your government representatives and demand action–demand change. Get involved with your local pregnancy center. Reach out to unwed mothers. Counsel and show great compassion and love to those who are considering abortion. Just don’t sit and bemoan the fact that abortion is wrong; do something about it–not from a heart filled with hate and disdain, but out of love for one who is struggling and the innocent preborn child at risk.
Dare to make a difference. Be reminded that every prayer you pray and every step you take to change this horrendous problem will eventually lead to saving a life–the life of the preborn filled with purpose, potential and a destiny. A life worth living!
