Hearts On Fire

If we’re in love with Jesus, we’re in love with the Word (John 1). If we’re not in love with the Word, how can we truly be in love with Jesus?
Hearts On Fire

The disciples had the opportunity to walk and talk with the Lord while He was here on earth.

They never grew tired of listening to Him unfold the mysteries of Scripture before them. Desire for and love of the Word caused their hearts to burn within them while He taught in front of multitudes, in a small group setting, and on a one-on-one basis.

📖
And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? (Luke 24:32)

Through this simple verse, we are challenged to ask ourselves when was the last time our hearts burned at the hearing of God’s Word? Are we yearning for a nugget of truth from the Word of God? Do we desire His Word more than anything in life? We must be careful not to take the Word for granted or forget what a precious gift it truly is.

The next time you hear the reading of God’s Word, consider what the disciples said, “Did not our heart burn within us, while he opened to us the scriptures.”

If we’re in love with Jesus, we’re in love with the Word (John 1). If we’re not in love with the Word, how can we truly be in love with Jesus?

Prayer

Father, burn in me a desire for the Word; rekindle that fire within me. Amen.

📖
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
