MY CUP RUNNETH OVER

I Will Be Their God

My cup runneth over; I have more than heart can wish."

What a promise! What a declaration by the Father to His own! What more could one ask for!

“I will be their God."

Consider those words closely. All that He is. All that He promises. All that He has provided. Every grace. Every mercy. Every need fulfilled by the One who fills all in all.

“I will be their God."

Can you contain such a promise? Are you able to grasp the depth, width and breadth of such a declaration?

When you think of all God is. When you consider the depth of His love and mercy toward you. When you meditate on His goodness. When you see yourself as one of His very own. His immeasurable wealth begins to overflow. We are complete, lacking no good thing. Totally satisfied. In awe of His sufficiency. Our cup runneth over.

“I will be their God."

C. H. Spurgeon offers this to consider:  “This is the masterpiece of all the promises; its enjoyment makes a heaven below, and will make a heaven above. Dwell in the light of thy Lord, and let thy soul be alwys ravished with His love … live up to thy privileges, and rejoice with unspeakable joy."

Oh dear friend, we are living so far beneath the immeasurable blessing contained in God’s promise to be our God. It’s time — for you and for me — to begin to live in the blessedness of belonging to God, calling Him Father, acknowledging Him as Master Creator.

“I will be their God."

Who could ask for anything more? Why are we so tied to this world when the fact is that our God has provided all we need that pertains to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). He IS our God … there is none other beside Him!
