The Way: Part 3

Jesus did not come to show us the way, but to be the Way. He IS the Way.
The Way: Part 3

Jesus said, "I am The Way..." (John 14:6). Christ did not come to show us the way, nor has He come only to make the way, but to be the Way. He IS the Way.

1. He is the New and Living Way.

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way... (Hebrews 10:19)

2. He is the Way through suffering.

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh... (Hebrews 10:19-20)

3. He is the Way to the Father.

For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. (Epphesians 2:18)

 4. He is the Way into Salvation.

I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. (John 10:9)

5. He is the Way into the Holiest.

By this the Holy Spirit indicates that the way into the holy places is not yet opened as long as the first section is still standing. (Hebrews 9:8)

6. He is the Way consecrated for us.

... by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh (Hebrews 10:20)

7. He is the only Way.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)

Just as we depend on GPS or a roadmap to get from one location to another, we need The Way to direct us on life's journey. In other words, based on John 14:6, Jesus is THE WAY ... He is our GPS and our roadmap. He gives us very specific guidelines, not only through his teaching, but also by the example He set before us.

A few years ago, people were familiar with the phrase, "What Would Jesus Do?" or WWJD. It was frequently used as a reminder of their belief in a moral imperative to act in a manner demonstrating the love of Jesus through their actions. In essence, they were asking themselves how they could follow in Jesus' footsteps in their life circumstances. Those who were sincere recognized Jesus as The Way as they looked to Him for guidance.

Isaiah further helps us understand that we will hear a voice – a "word behind you" telling us which way to turn, whether left or right, as The Way is being revealed to us. All we need to do is listen and obey ... sounds easy enough, doesn't it? Well, if. your experience has been anything like mine, walking in The Way presents challenges in its call to humbly walk where He leads us, to deny our flesh, to surrender our will, to the ways of the Lord. And that, my friends, is no easy task.

Jesus is The Way; we will continue to do our best to follow Him. Amen.
