Turmoil Within
The Psalmist captured in words what most of us deal with from time to time. Unfortunately, some find it difficult to pull out of the state of turmoil and place their trust in God. But, that's not to say it's impossible by any means. In Psalm 42 the Psalmist showed us how deep the turmoil can go and still offers hope. He emphasizes the fact by repeating vv 5-6 near the end of the Psalm.
'Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God." (Psalm 42:5-6)
"Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God." (Psalm 42:11)
Turmoil is not always unbelief or doubt. Rather, it's a battle that rages in the mind of the believer who knows God and is familiar with His history of watching over His people. Turmoil stirs in the minds of those who have placed their trust in God only to have it shaken and challenged by life's circumstances. It's an invitation to reset our focus away from our circumstances and on the God of our salvation.
Whatever you may be facing today or tomorrow, challenge yourself by asking: "Why are you cast down...why are you in turmoil within me?" Don't allow the turmoil to take root and grow. Command your mind to put your hope and trust in God. You will soon find yourself praising Him for His salvation. Praise Him, friends, for He is God – Yahweh Elohim! There is NONE like Him. There is NONE who can lead you out of the pit like He can.
"I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God!"
