KIDS! KIDS! KIDS!
Little Rosses Captured Our Hearts
You would think that at our ripe old age, having a house full of kids would present its challenges. Well, to be honest, if you thought that, you’d be right!
Being grandparents who would lay down their lives for any of their grandchildren doesn’t change the fact that having children underfoot 24/7 … oh, wait! That would be 24/14 since they’re with us for two weeks! Well, anyway, two full weeks of active boys in a house already filled to the gills with inventory and supplies for Heart of God International, furniture showing it’s age and wear from abuse experienced during previous visits, a dog who is afraid of her own shadow and a cat who is incredibly anti-social, is just a little bit challenging.
Add to that the fact that the younger one of us (that would be me) experienced the new flu-bug that’s going around that knocked on the door and punched me in the gut (pardon my French), putting me out of business for several days.
And, add to that the fact that Grandpa’s job requires him to be on call 24/7 to drive a cab for CSX, taking railroad employees from one location to another, often in the middle of the night. Not short trips, either. He may leave at 8:00 pm, drive to Chicago and back, and arrive home twelve hours later, just in time for the rebel-rousers to get up and create strange noises and participate in untold activities that make sleeping a challenge!
One thing we’ve learned through this experience, however, is that we can’t ever get enough of our grandkids! They may be loud. They are most definitely messy! They are picky eaters making meals a joke. They stay up all night and play all day. But, they’re ours. One-hundred percent, flesh and blood, Ross offspring!
Little Rosses who captured our hearts the moment we learned of their impending arrival.
Growing Rosses that totally amaze us as we watch those precious God-given gifts and talents begin to blossom in their individual lives.
Awesome Rosses as they wrap their hearts around ours, weaving their lives into ours, and somehow reflecting the unconditional love this family has for one another.
Kids! Kids! Kids! They’re a challenge, that’s for sure! But, what would life be without them?
This Nana and Papa wouldn’t even want to imagine!
“Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward” (Psalm 127:3).
